In Cold Blood - Penguin Competition

A book cover created for the Penguin book cover contest that takes place every year. The book describes their surroundings in great detail. It talks about how barren and flat the surroundings are around the house that the murders take place. I used this as well as the fact they state how the killers specifically went out of their way to target their victims. I enjoyed this project as it was a great opportunity to work on something new and get a real sense of pride in my design.

In Cold Blood tells the true story of the murder of the Clutter family in Holcomb, Kansas, in 1959. The book is written as if it were a novel, complete with dialog, and is what Truman Capote referred to as "New Journalism" — the nonfiction novel. For Truman Capote, it was the last in a series of great works, which included Breakfast at Tiffany's, Other Voices, Other Rooms, and The Grass Harp.
